2nd Annual “Putting Your Best Fork Forward: Finer Points on Business Etiquette and Protocol” Etiquette Dinner

October 26th, 2006 No comments

Summary:

For the 2nd Annual Etiquette Dinner, the AMA welcomed back Gail Madison from The Madison School of Etiquette and Protocol. Ms. Madison presented both proper business and dining etiquette along with networking techniques through an interactive dinner presentation. The dinner aimed to help students to prepare for business lunch and dinner occasions (interviews, meetings, ect), as well as to allow students to get acquainted and network with professors, MBA students, and other business professionals who attended the dinner.

In our second year of presenting this event, many improvements were witnessed. A greater student response was recognized and attendance had noticeably increased. This year’s dinner was also made available to students enrolled in the La Salle MBA Program. Students from both schools were actively engaged in the event and came away from the presentation with valuable advice for existing in a professional atmosphere.

As a testament to the success of the Etiquette Dinner, the University’s School of Business once again scheduled the event for the upcoming academic year.

National AMA Case Competition “Renew New Orleans”

October 1st, 2006 No comments

Summary:

The chapter participated in the AMA’s national case competition, “Renew New Orleans.” The chapter put together a team of 10 students to collaborate on the development of ideas promoting the renewal of New Orleans. This was the first case competition in which the chapter participated in and the results were successful for our first attempt. While the chapter did not place in the finals, the members benefitted from the experience. The project was also a significant team building and leadership experience allowing general members to involve themselves in the activities of the chapter.
